St. Helen’s Catholic School is accredited by the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA). WCEA accredits Catholic elementary and secondary schools in nine western states (26 (arch) dioceses) and the US Territory of Guam. WCEA co-accredits and is in partnership with three Regional agencies (WASC, NAAS, NCA CASI) and two private agencies (CAIS and HAIS). WCEA began in 1957 in San Francisco and has a long and successful history of assisting school improvement through the accreditation process.
We celebrated the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on Monday with the parish community. Also on Monday Sister Jean, the Assistant Superintendent of Catholic Schools, here in the Diocese of Fresno, came to the school for her annual inspection. She visited each of the classrooms and talked with he students. She also had enough time to eat lunch and talk with the students in upper grades. After visiting with the students she attended our faculty meeting and shared some insight to the preparation of the school’s self-study for our WASC/NCEA accreditation visit in March of 2015. On Thursday the 5th grade traveled to San Francisco to see the California Academy of Science and visit Chinatown in preparation for the Chinese New Year Celebration that takes place in the 5th grade each year. We are still working hard to prepare for the Christmas program this week. Our program will be on Thursday December 19th at 6:30 pm in the church.
St. Helen’s School offers an outstanding curriculum to children, starting at 4 years, in our Junior Kindergarten program, through 8th grade within a Christ centered environment. I, along with the faculty and staff of St. Helen’s Catholic School would like to thank Fr. Gene and the entire St. Helen’s parish community for your prayers and constant support. We as a community, are working together to provide an excellent academic foundation along with a moral and spiritual life for the children that have been entrusted to us.
